Benchmark NSE Nifty index rose 50.25 points to 24663.25 amid buying in frontline bluechip stocks.
However, stocks such as Shree Rama Multi, Paras Petrofils, Viji Finance, Gujarat Lease and IL&FS Transportation Networks, touched their fresh 52-week low.
Overall, 29 shares traded in the green in Nifty50 index, while 21 traded in the red.
In the Nifty 50 index, LTIMindtree, ONGC, SBI, SBI Life and HUL were among top gainers, while Bajaj Auto, Coal India Ltd, Asian Paints, Hero MotoCorp and UltraTech Cem. traded in the red.
The BSE Sensex was trading 163.4 points up at 80879.95 at 10:14AM(IST).
Traders were seen piling up positions in Fertilisers, Petrochemicals, Packaging, Irrigation & Allied Services and Agriculture/Horticulture/Livestock sectors, while selling was visible in Metals — Non Ferrous, Beverages — Alcoholic, Metals — Ferrous, Gems and Jewellery and ReIT sectors.
