Stranger Things', Maya Hawke said that there will be eight episodes of the fifth and final season. She also said that it would take almost one year to finish the shooting of all of the remaining episodes, reports 'Deadline'. Immediately after 'Stranger Things' Season 4 ended, the next episode was planned and the filming began in January 2024. Earlier, its filming was stopped due to the strikes by the SAG-AFTRA and the WGA. Much before that when the fourth season of the sci-fi series was planned, the world witnessed COVID-19 and the filming was halted.
Maya Hawke jokingly said that the show has been a little bit cursed. Praising showrunners Matt and Ross for taking a lot of responsibility, she said that they have an amazing team of writers, but they’re very involved. She said further that it takes a long time to write each season, and it takes a long time to shoot them.

Talking about the number of episodes of 'Stranger Things' Season 5, she said «We’re making, basically, eight movies. The episodes are very long.»
