Netflix co-founder and Executive Chairman Reed Hastings has triggered a controversy by announcing a massive donation of $7 million to Democrat contender Kamala Harris. Revealing his decision on the tech-focused site 'The Information', he wrote that after the depressing debate, Democrats are in the game again. He also made it clear that it was the largest donation he had ever given to a single candidate. Earlier this month, the head of the streamer was not happy with US President Joe Biden and urged him to pull out of the race for the White House. Talking to 'The New York Times', he said that Joe Biden needs to step aside to allow a vigorous Democratic leader to beat Trump and keep us safe and prosperous.

Hasting took to the X after Biden stepped aside and endorsed the vice president for the US Presidential Election 2024. He wrote, «Congrats to Kamala Harris — now it is time to win.» According to 'The New York Times', Hastings along with his wife, Patty Quillin, has donated more than $20 million to the Democratic Party in recent years.
