Venkat Raman as well as Suchana sought police permission to meet. The cops had allowed them to spend about 15 minutes with each other. The exchange took place at the Calangute police station, where Raman came to give his statement. Seth and Raman got married in 2010 and filed for divorce after eight years, he added.
Raman's five-page statement, recorded over two hours, shed light on the tumultuous history between the estranged couple. Raman expressed that Suchana had always perceived him as a violent person who might take their son away. This perception culminated in her leaving Raman's house with their child, subsequently filing for divorce in a Bengaluru family court in 2023.
Raman's counsel, Azhar Meer, emphasized the lack of justice for both Raman and his deceased son. He contended that the legal battle for children often results in their loss, regardless of the outcome.
Meer asserted that the case's resolution, whether punishment for Suchana or her release on bail, would make little difference to Raman. The lawyer said the tragedy serves as a stark reminder that, in such disputes, the child consistently bears the brunt of the consequences.
