Zomato delivery agents in Bengaluru, revealing that their income can surpass that of many IT engineers in India. Kamath, who runs the 'Full Disclosure' YouTube channel, shared insights from her discussions with two delivery agents, highlighting the disparity between their earnings and those of average IT professionals.
Kamath's interviews revealed that delivery agents like Shiva and Taiyappa earn significantly more than the typical IT engineer, who averages around Rs 20,000 per month. Shiva, a 22-year-old Swiggy delivery driver, earns between Rs 40,000 and Rs 50,000 monthly. His income includes a base pay of Rs 20 per order, along with additional tips and incentives. “I get around Rs 5,000 a month from tips,” Shiva disclosed during the interview.
Shiva, who has been working as a delivery driver for three years, has managed to save Rs 2 lakh over the past six months. He plans to invest this money in starting a business in his village. “I want to open a D-Mart. It will create employment opportunities for the people of my village,” he told Kamath.
Similarly, Taiyappa, a Zomato delivery agent with three years of experience, earns close to Rs 40,000 a month. Kamath highlighted these earnings in her Instagram posts, noting, “It is 2024 and Food Delivery Partners are earning MORE THAN Software Engineers.”
Kamath emphasized that while the earnings are impressive, most delivery agents view this work as a temporary measure rather than a long-term career. They typically work between 12 to 13 hours a day
