Tata Motors on Wednesday launched the electric vehicle SUV Curvv.ev, in a bid to further strengthen it's dominance in an emerging electric vehicles market in India.
The Tata Curvv EV, priced from Rs 17.49 lakh to Rs 21.99 lakh, will compete with the MG ZS EV, which falls within the range of Rs 18.98 lakh to Rs 25.44 lakh.
Curvv EV will feature a 123 kWh motor, which will enable it to go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.6 seconds.
The Curvv EV will come with six airbags as standard, ESP, all-wheel disc brakes, and a range of other features. Additionally, it will feature acoustic alerts to ensure pedestrian safety and Level 2 ADAS.
The new car will offer three engine choices: two petrol options and one diesel. Among them is the new Hyperion GDi, which delivers 125 hp and 225 Nm of torque.
It was announced at the launch that the Tata Curvv EV will feature a 1.2C charging rate, allowing it to achieve a range of 150 km in just 15 minutes of charging.
It will touch a top speed of 160 kmph, the company claimed. The new EV is claimed to have a range of 585 km. The company says that the customers can expect a real-life range between 400-425 km.
At present, Tata Motors boasts to have four EVs in its portfolio: Nexon.ev, Punch.ev, Tiago.ev and Tigor.ev. Today's launch of Curvv.ev, a blend of toughness of an SUV and sporty silhouette of a coupé, makes the fifth addition to its evolving EV range.
Curvv will be first available in its EV version and will soon be followed by its ICE counterpart.
