The Mumbai-headquartered software behemoth will invest Rs 690 crore on this project, the proposal on which the government mentions the purpose as electronics R&D and IT/ITeS. The specifics of the project were not available as TCS did not respond to a query.
Alongside the campus development, the company is also scouting for office space at InfoPark in Kochi to meet its immediate need for 5000 seats. The government is in talks with a few large developers in the tech hub to help the company find space early. “The government plays a facilitator’s role trying to help investors find space across the tech parks in Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode,” Industries, Law & Coir Minister P Rajeeve told ET.
The minister met Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran in Mumbai recently and discussed TCS investments in the southern state. TCS already has a presence at InfoPark in Kochi with the offices of tech companies including IBM, Wipro and Cognizant in its vicinity.
