Google I/O keynote, the email service unveiled the changes. Participating in the program, Vice President and General Manager of Google Workspace, Aparna Pappu said that the new features will be based on Artificial Intelligence, reports 'New York Post'. She announced three features coming to Gmail that would use a Gemini-powered Side Panel Assistant.
If a Gmail user takes the Summarize option, he can take the help of Gemini, which can read through a long email thread and summarize the main points. It will save time to scroll up and read replies that have been missed.
By using the Q&A function, a Gmail user can ask questions to Gemini who will answer by referencing all of the emails and attachments. Instead of opening and reading all emails, a user can simply ask Gemini and he will get the right answer.
If a Gmail user takes the help of Contextual smart reply, Gemini can help him in writing an email reply. The AI will take congnizance of all emails and attachments and write the correct reply to an email.
According to 'Business Insider', Pappu gave a real-life example. She showed audiences how the futuristic Gmail can be integrated across Google services. She demonstrated that it can gather receipts and organiz them into a spreadsheet on Google Sheets or into a folder on Google Drive, effectively slashing hours of tedious labor. Gemini can also find and categorize data, documents and information in a few seconds.
