For some, it's internal matter
While European diplomats got a taste of vibrant democratic process and free and fair elections in Jammu & Kashmir, some of India's close partners in Central Asia and Gulf were not part of the endeavour. They treat elections in the Union Territory as India's internal matter and have 'full trust and faith' in India's position and democratic journey. These countries are strong supporters of India's fight against terrorism.
Jha’s Connection with AKD & Team
Hours after Sri Lankan presidential election results were announced, Anura Kumara Dissanayake met Indian high commissioner Santosh Jha in Colombo last Sunday. Jha was the first envoy whom the new president met. On the very next day, Jha was the first envoy whom the incoming PM met. South Asia is often key testing grounds for diplomats and Jha, who has also served in Colombo in the past, has strong connections cutting across party lines in the island nation.
JMM’s advice to Odisha’s BJP govt
Jharkhand’s ruling party JMM has slammed Odisha’s BJP government after it emerged that an elderly woman was forced to crawl nearly 2 km from her home in Keonjhar district to a panchayat office to collect her old-age pension. A video had gone viral on social media a few days ago. In a post on X, JMM said the Odisha government should learn from Jharkhand’s ‘Sarkar Aapke Dwar’ programme and immediately take steps in that direction. Under the initiative, the Jharkhand government organises special camps at several locations to resolve issues related to
