The number of consumers who purchased Meta's AR/VR headsets is very limited, and Zuckerberg was not the only one who invested lavishly in this tech segment. He was also followed by the likes of Apple, Microsoft, Google, and Sony, who have pumped in billions of dollars more but that has majorly gone into a lost cause for now.
Meta's AR/VR research investments have brought $60 billion in losses on this tech over the past five years, as per the entirety of filings.
