Tiger Shroff starrer 'Ganapath: A Hero Is Born' has gotten off to a slow start at the box-office, becoming the actor's lowest-ever opener since his debut in 2014.
Despite its futuristic theme and adrenaline-fueled sequences, 'Ganapath', which also stars Kriti Sanon and Amitabh Bachchan, struggled to find its footing, earning only Rs 2.5 crore on the first day, as per Sacnik.com.
This disappointing figure marked a departure from Shroff's previous successes, such as 'War', which raked in Rs 53.35 crore on its opening day.
Directed by 'Queen' film-maker Vikas Bahl, the film's lacklustre opening, however, surprised many, given the star-studded cast and the promise of high-octane action.
In the film, Shroff plays Guddu, who discovers he's a hero destined to help his people in a dystopian world. Sanon portrays Jassie, Guddu's love interest and a martial arts expert. Despite the star power and action-packed scenes, the movie didn't capture the audience's excitement.
Earlier, actor Rajinikanth had extended his best wishes to Tiger Shroff and the entire team of 'Ganapath'. In a social media post, he expressed his hopes for the film's grand success, showcasing his support.
The film's lukewarm reception at the box office can be attributed in part to mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike. While Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon’s on-screen chemistry added sparks, the movie failed to ignite the enthusiasm of the viewers.
Further, the simultaneous release of the South Indian blockbuster 'Leo' might have divided the audience's attention, leaving 'Ganapath' struggling at the box-office. The film's fortunes may turn during Dussehra on October 24.
