TIME Magazine on Friday released its first TIME100 AI list which recognises personalities who made notable contributions in the ever-growing field of artificial intelligence (AI).
On the list, naturally, are obvious names like Sam Altman, cofounder and CEO of OpenAI, Nvidia top boss Jensen Huang, and X (formerly Twitter) boss Elon Musk who launched xAI in July.
The list recognises achievers across a wide age span, from 18-year-old Sneha Revanur of Encode Justice, a movement for making AI ethical, to 76-year-old Geoffery Hinton, also known as the 'Godfather of AI', who recently quit his position at Google to warn against the dangers of AI — a technology he played a part in bringing to the fore.
The list also recognises leaders of AI in India or those of Indian origin, acknowledging the key role the country is expected to play in the field. Here's a look at them.
Neal Khosla, CEO and cofounder, Curai
Curai Health, a virtual care company founded by US-based Khosla in 2017, uses AI to provide primary care at a low cost. For a minimal fee, it allows subscribers to consult a network of doctors for advice. AI assists doctors in clerical tasks like gathering patient information and follow-ups.
Manu Chopra, CEO, Karya
