Speaking at a public rally in Krishnanagar, Modi also set BJP a target of winning all the 42 Lok Sabha seats in the state in the upcoming elections.
Countering Trinamool’s claim that the Centre has withheld funds for MGNREGA and other schemes, the Prime Minister alleged: “TMC have put their own sticker on every scheme. People of the country must know, every scheme has been transformed into a scam. They are masters of doing it.”
State minister Sashi Panja denied the allegation. “What PM said is not true. Poor people have been deprived of MGNREGA funds and CM Mamata Banerjee is paying them,” he claimed.
Modi in his rally also emphasized on “narishakti” in Sandeshkhali – where women led the protests that culminated in the arrest of TNC strongman Shahjahan Sheikh in connection with cases of land grab and sexual harassment – as he sought the support of women voters who gave majority votes to Banerjee in the 2021 assembly polls.
“Banglar bikash hobe tobei desher bikash hobe (If Bengal prospers and progresses, then only the country will progress),” Modi said in Bangla. “Lotus must bloom in all 42 seats in Bengal,” he added.
“Free ration will be provided by a BJP-run Centre for the next five years. It will continue for the next five years and this is Modi's guarantee,” he said.
