According to the French tabloidLe Parisian, the pair, who had been in a relationship since 2020, announced their separation in July, before the Olympics started.
Following their remarkable victory over China’s Wang Xinyu and Zhang Zhizhen, the duo faced questions about their relationship status during a press conference. According to the Associated Press, Macháč, 23, responded by rolling his eyes.
However, the duo was reluctant to divulge their relationship status and admitted they liked it when people were “confused” about their equation. “That’s our personal life, so you don’t need to know that,” Siniaková, 28, told jokingly. “We like it when you are confused.”
Macháč added with a smirk, “This is top secret.” Siniaková confirmed their breakup but joked that it was a strategic decision to focus on winning gold.
