UFC 4, which hit PlayStation 4 and Xbox One three years ago, nears its end, stirring anticipation among fans for the next chapter in the series. EA Sports has been hinting at the upcoming installment on social media, and now we have confirmation about UFC 5.
EA officially announced on September 7 that UFC 5 will launch on October 27, 2023. This announcement came two months after a teaser from the EA Sports UFC team on Twitter, promising a «full reveal» in September 2023.
On September 5, EA Sports disclosed the cover athletes for UFC 5. Valentina Shevchenko and Alexander Volkanovski will grace the standard edition cover, while Israel Adesanya will be featured on the deluxe edition cover. UFC 4, released in 2020, showcased Jorge Masvidal and Israel Adesanya as its cover stars, marking Adesanya's second consecutive appearance on the cover.
UFC 5 will be accessible exclusively on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The development team confirmed that there won't be a release for last-generation consoles, and crossplay won't be included. UFC 4's release in 2020 included versions for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, just before the launch of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
UFC 5 will introduce a fresh damage system that highlights cuts and bruises to mimic real UFC fights. The game will also incorporate hundreds of new animations, doctor stoppages, improved controls, character models, and a shift to the Frostbite engine. Players can unlock Alter Ego attires through in-game actions.
Jon Anik and Daniel Cormier will serve as the announce team for UFC 5, but Joe Rogan will not join them as a broadcast partner.
