United Kingdom is gearing up for a late-summer heatwave set to envelop parts of the country next week, with temperatures expected to climb above 30C. High-pressure systems are poised to dominate the weather pattern through the weekend and into the upcoming week, delivering warm and balmy conditions just days after the meteorological summer officially ended.
As high pressure takes center stage, the nation is poised to bask in the warmth, with some regions of England and Wales possibly experiencing their highest temperatures since July 7th, according to forecasts. The impending heatwave provides Britons with one last opportunity to flock to the beaches and fire up their barbecues, following a mixed bag of weather conditions throughout July and August.
Joanna Robinson, a weather producer for Sky News, cautioned that the week could culminate in a «thundery breakdown,» potentially bringing a stormy close to the heatwave.
Robinson noted, «We're now into the meteorological autumn, but it'll be more like summer next week, typically as the majority of schools return. High pressure will dominate the weather this weekend and into next week, with a southerly flow developing, allowing temperatures to rise. It will become very warm, even hot in places.»
Southern regions are expected to experience the most significant temperature surges, with temperatures potentially reaching 30C in the middle of the week, as per Ms. Robinson's analysis. This would mark the highest temperature recorded since early July when Chertsey felt the mercury rise to 30.2C. Meanwhile, temperatures further north are projected to «peak in the mid to high twenties.»
