Lok Sabha Results: The INDIA bloc surged ahead in Uttar Pradesh (UP) from the first phase of elections. The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) lagged in all phases, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) could only replicate its 2019 success during the second phase, according to a report by Times of India. Common factors such as dissatisfaction with candidates and local issues contributed to the shift in voter sentiment against the ruling party in specific seats.

In the initial phase, BJP managed to secure only one seat, Pilibhit. The Samajwadi Party (SP) won the majority with four out of eight seats, while the Congress and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) picked up one each. Azad Samaz Party leader Chandrashekhar Azad also clinched the Nagina seat. This phase encompassed regions with high Muslim populations and significant Dalit communities. BSP was the significant loser here, dropping all three of its 2019 seats. The reserved seat of Nagina, with over 20% Dalit populace, was won by Azad, while Saharanpur went to Congress’s Imran Masood, previously ousted from BSP. Bijnor, a 2019 BSP seat, went to RLD, previously aligned with BJP. BJP only held onto Pilibhit, losing Kairana and Muzaffarnagar to SP. A consolidation of Muslim votes for the INDIA bloc and Jatav votes shifting towards Congress benefited the alliance. The strategic fielding of candidates and pronounced anti-incumbency against sitting BJP MPs aided these gains.
