US spies will soon be able to analyze the information at their command with a click of a button. Microsoft will let the US Intelligence agencies to analyze large amounts of data using its Generative AI application. This has been reported by Fox News Business.
Microsoft's Generative AI hopes to get past the security around large language models (LLM) and their connection to the internet. Further, Bloomberg reported that this AI tool is the first major LLM fully separated from the Internet.
Microsoft announced the new product at the AI Expo for National Competitiveness earlier this week. It has been reported that the AI tool was deployed in an air gapped cloud environment, away from the internet.
Further, the generative AI is able to analyze large amounts of data and provide patterns which can be further used as actionable inputs by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and other intelligence agencies in the US. While the CIA had earlier used generative AI for unclassified purposes, there was a need to isolate the system from internet to improve cyber security and to ensure that critical information which is classified is not compromised. Hence, a new model without access to the internet was required and it is now being used.
The new AI will be able to read the files but not learn from them. Normally, AI ensures repetitive learning through data that is accessed or fed. Here the tool will be able to only
