BEML Begins Production of Vande Bharat Express Sleeper Prototype
BEML, in Bengaluru, has commenced the production of the first Vande Bharat Express sleeper prototype, as reported by TOI in October 2023. The Vande Bharat sleeper train, a self-propelled train set, is designed to offer superior features compared to the existing Rajdhani Express trains, setting a new standard in overnight travel. Shantanu Roy, CMD of BEML Ltd, expressed delight in contributing to this milestone, emphasizing the focus on comfort and world-class facilities while reducing travel time.
Plans for 10 Vande Bharat Sleeper Train Sets
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced plans for the production of 10 Vande Bharat sleeper train sets. BEML is set to manufacture these sets, with additional projects for Vande Bharat sleepers in progress. The Vande Bharat sleeper trains are designed for speeds of 160 kmph, with faster acceleration and deceleration, aiming to significantly reduce travel time on high-density popular routes of Indian Railways.
