Amit Shah announced on Saturday that the BJP would provide free visits to the Ram temple in Ayodhya for all residents of Telangana if the party is elected in the upcoming assembly elections. Speaking at an election rally in Gadwal, Shah accused the Congress of obstructing and delaying the construction of the Ram temple for the past 70 years.
He mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had performed the 'Bhumi Puja' of the temple and the 'pran pratishtha' would take place on January 22, 2024.
Shah urged the crowd to vote for the BJP in Telangana and promised that if elected, the party-led government would arrange free darshan (sight) of Lord Ram in Ayodhya for everyone. He also criticized the K Chandrasekhar Rao-led BRS government in Telangana for providing religion-based reservation to Muslims, which he deemed as «unconstitutional».
Shah stated that the BJP plans to eliminate religious reservation and increase the quota for Other Backward Classes (OBCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs) if they come into power. He labeled both the Congress and BRS as «anti-backward class» parties and asserted that only the BJP and PM Modi can effectively support the BCs.
