The Atlantic magazine's Jeffrey Goldberg reported that he had been added to a Signal message group which apparently included Vice-President JD Vance and Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth. He said he had seen classified military plans for US strikes on Houthi rebels, including weapons packages, targets and timing, two hours before the bombs struck.
The report sparked a firestorm of criticism from opposition Democrats and concerns among several Republicans. Several Democrats are calling for resignations of some Trump officials involved. Amid this, it has now emerged that Trump's national security adviser Mike Waltz and JD Vance celebrated the elimination of Houthi commander in the leaked group chat.

Vance, Waltz celebrate Houthi commander demise
A senior Houthi military commander, believed to be the group's top missile commander, was killed in a US airstrike in Yemen last Friday. The strike, verified by multiple U.S. officials through internal communications, was carried out after the individual was positively identified entering a residential building allegedly connected to his girlfriend, reports TOI.

According to a strike timeline shared by Department of Defense adviser Pete Hegseth, the initial F-18s took off at 12:15 p.m., followed by armed drones at 1:45 p.m., leading up to precision strikes commencing at 2:15 p.m. A second wave of F-18s was deployed at 2:10 p.m., with Tomahawk missiles launching at 3:36 p.m.
