As a result of this potential system, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are expected in some parts of north Odisha, including the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, and Nabarangpur, with isolated rainfall in other districts on May 22nd and 23rd. Manorama Mohanty, director of the IMD’s Bhubaneswar center, told TOI that it is too early to determine the exact path or intensity of the low-pressure system and urged the public not to panic or spread misinformation.
Mohanty noted that this system might aid in the advancement of the southwest monsoon across the country. The IMD bulletin also mentioned that thunderstorm activities are likely to continue in some districts of Odisha, while hot and humid conditions will persist in the coastal areas. The maximum temperature is expected to rise by 2-4 degrees Celsius over the next five days in many districts.
