Tim Burton has confirmed working on Wednesday Season 2 “without a holiday”. The iconic director of Hollywood created the hit Netflix series in his trademark way. He opened about the second season of Wednesday, while being all praise for its lead star, the young actor Jenna Ortega. Here’s what he said.
Tim Burton revealed in an interview to the British Film Institute (BFI) that due to the ongoing Hollywood strikes, he has put work «on hold until all the strikes are over».
But Burton confirmed that he will «be involved in some (way)» in Season 2 of Wednesday. «I’m not quite sure, because everything has stopped at the moment.»
The director said that the reason he loved doing Wednesday is «related to the character (of Wednesday Addams) so much.» But it could not have been possible without Jenna Ortega, he said.
«You can write it good, you can do whatever you want to do, but that kind of a character would need such clarity and purity and strength. A person has to have that. So for me, she (Jenna) basically made the show that way.»
Burton also praised Jenna Ortega's style of working on her character.
«She’s one of the most aware, not only as an actress, but everything, around the camera, the set. She’s a very special talent. And she’s done a lot of horror movies, which I love too. That gave her a special place in my heart. 'Oh, you’re doing another horror. Good',» he revealed.
Wednesday is a new-age version of The Addams Family. Actor Jenna Ortega plays the character of student Wednesday Addams', with Catherine Zeta-Jones as her mother Morticia Addams and Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams.
