BJP leader Rajnath Singh on Sunday indirectly targeted former Bihar deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav, questioning why some individuals make a spectacle of their dietary preferences while others observe austerity.
Recently, a video surfaced showing RJD leader Yadav eating fish fry during Navratri, sparking controversy with BJP leaders expressing disapproval.
Speaking at an election rally in Bihar's Jamui district, Rajnath Singh, without directly mentioning Tejashwi's name, slammed the Bihar leader. «You may eat fish, pig, or an elephant. But what is the point you are trying to prove by making a show of your act when people are observing austerities,» TOI quoted Singh as saying.
Meanwhile, Yadav defended himself, stating that the video was recorded on April 8, a day before Navratri began. He dismissed the outrage as a distraction tactic and ridiculed the reaction of BJP supporters and the media.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also targeted Rahul Gandhi and Lalu Yadav during an election rally, alleging they consumed mutton during the month of Sawan last year. Referring to a viral video from September 2023, where the two leaders were seen preparing 'Champaran mutton' together, PM Modi accused the INDIA bloc allies of having a 'Mughal era mentality.'
Yadav responded to PM Modi's attack, urging him to focus on pertinent issues rather than engaging in trivial discussions. He emphasized the need for PM Modi to address issues like employment, inflation, and development in Bihar.
