Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis were among the over 50 people who wrote to the judge in support of their That ’70s Show colleague Daniel “Danny” Masterson in his hearing for three rape allegations.
Media reports in Variety and other US publications have obtained the letters written by Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, and also Danny Masterson’s wife, actor Bijou Phillips.
Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis are married with two children. Ashton Kutcher also runs a charitable organization against child sex trafficking.
Called Thorn, it is an organization Kutcher formed with his then-wife and actor Demi Moore, which helps “build technology to defend children from sexual abuse”.
Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher starred with Danny Masterson in the popular sitcom That ’70s Show. Kutcher also starred with him on The Ranch on Netflix.
Danny Masterson was first accused of sexual assault or rape on three counts in 2017.
The cases date back to 2001-2003.
Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis wrote letters to the judge to try and reduce the sentence of Masterson, who was given a 30-year time in prison.
In his letter, Ashton Kutcher called Danny Masterson as a “role model”. Both Mila and Ashron went on to tell in detail how the actor was a big influence on them not to take drugs, in an industry where it is common.
“As a role model, Danny has consistently been an excellent one.
I attribute not falling into the typical Hollywood life of drugs directly to Danny. Any time that we were to meet someone or interact with someone who was on drugs, or did drugs, he made it clear that that wouldn't be a good person to be friends with.
