The HMPV virus mimics symptoms of a common cold or flu, such as fever, cough, and nasal congestion, which are common with any pneumonia virus out there. HMPV weakens the immune system of humans, and invades the respiratory system and weakens it.

China's disease control center announced a pilot monitoring system for pneumonia of undefined origin, according to a previous ET report, and since such cases generally see an uptick in winter, the health sector is trying to keep a tab on he number of cases.
