Adam Sandler topped the list of earners in the most recent Hollywood earnings report, taking home $1.4 million a week last year, primarily from his production company's Netflix deal. Despite paying him a substantial income, his film Murder Mystery 2 barely made it into the top 40 most-viewed titles on Netflix during the first half of 2023, as per the reports of The Sun.

Second-place earner Margot Robbie, who produced and starred in Barbie, the greatest box office smash of 2023, brought in $59 million. Only two women, Robbie and Jennifer Aniston, cracked the top ten highest-paid actors list despite her fame. In an attempt to address the gender wage gap, Sharon Stone revealed that men—who were comparatively unknown—were offered 14 times her fee for the same movie.
In terms of Hollywood income, women haven't historically lagged behind men. In 1963, Elizabeth Taylor became the first actor to earn a million dollars for her performance in Cleopatra. In the same way, female actors like Charlie Chaplin in the early days of the film earned just as much as female actors like Mary Pickford. The introduction of blockbuster movies, however, altered the balance of power, with studio executives willing to pay handsome sums to male actors for significant franchises and sequels.
