global outage issue has put the world's major services including banking and aircraft operations into a standstill after Microsoft applications and services were unresponsive for users across different countries. The global outage, according to reports, was majorly due to a CrowdStrike issue that prevent Microsoft systems from booting up accurately, with a blue dead screen cropping up.
Even the Bank of England, the most trusted bank in the UK, was facing a major outage due to the same issue as it used Microsoft's applications for its banking services. However, its servers came back online after a few hours, after the issue was resolved. However, panic still ensued as people grew concerned about this IT blackout which had the potential to affect a secure bank like BOE.
However, according to a South China Morning Post report, even though foreign businesses and hotel chains in China collapsed due to this global outage, majority of the services around China's infrastructure and institution, were largely unaffected by this incident. Even airports in neighboring countries of China, such as India, Nepal and Pakistan faced issues around airport and airline operations, China's Beijing and Shanghai airports were functionally normally over the past 48 hours, as per their airport websites. This case is very surprising as state-of-the-art technology-equipped UK and US airports were crippled after the global outage, which nearly showed no effect on China's airport operations.
