Will Smith is in negotiations to play the lead role in a brand-new Sony Pictures film titled 'Resistor'. The 2014 book 'Influx' by New York Times bestselling author Daniel Suarez served as the inspiration for the Escape Artists film. The book is about a government agency that imprisons inventors and steals their ideas, as reported by 'The Hollywood Reporter'.

The film is currently in development; no director has been decided yet. Author Zak Olkewicz of 'Bullet Train' penned the initial draft of the screenplay. Eric Singer who received an Academy Award nomination for 'Top Gun: Maverick', American Hustle authored the most recent version.

Todd Black, Tony Shaw, Dave Wilson, Steve Tisch, and Jason Blumenthal are among the producers of the movie. Producers Jon Mone from Westbrook and Smith are also involved. The executive producer is Heather Washington. Before this, Smith and Todd Black collaborated on Sony pictures like Emancipation, The Pursuit of Happyness, and Seven Pounds.
