World Designing Forum, one of the world's largest global fashion community, has announced the setting up of India's first Handloom Cluster and Apparel Designing Park in Agra. This initiative is poised to redefine the landscape of fashion by showcasing designer garments made from handlooms across India, particularly targeting the influx of foreign tourists visiting Agra each year, the Forum said in a statement.
The park, located at the famous «I Love Agra Selfie Point,» is a collaborative effort between RVA and the World Designing Forum. The park is set up with natural threads and handlooms. Recently, the Agra Development Authority announced organisation of weekly programs at this point, leading to the construction of a temporary apparel park, with RVA winning the contract.
Meanwhile, the World Designing Forum said that a World Couture League has been formed to promote handloom on an international scale. It will organize annual competitions in handloom designing among 20 Indian states. The league includes notable figures in the country such as industrialist Puran Dawar, Dr. Ranjana Bansal, and Shekhar Dikshit. Member of the National Core Committee, Shekhar Dikshit, disclosed plans for similar handloom parks in Jaipur, Goa, and Kanyakumari, following the success of the initiative in Agra.
