Jama Masjid Shamsi here claiming it was a temple, on Tuesday asked the Muslim side to complete their arguments by December 10. Arguing his case, the lawyer for Shamsi Shahi Jama Masjid Intezamia Committee and Waqf Board Asrar Ahmed questioned the locus standi of the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha to file the petition in the matter. Urging the court to dismiss the plea, the counsel submitted that the mosque is about 850 years old. He stated that there is «no existence of a temple» there and worship by Hindus had never been conducted in the mosque in the past. He argued that the Hindu outfit does not have the legal right to become a plaintiff in the matter. Ahmed also said that filing such a petition in the court violates the Places of Worship Act, 1991.

When the house assembled for the day, chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar announced that he has received a “record” number of 42 notices for suspension of listed business to discuss an important issue under Rule 267. He said that eight subjects have been mentioned in these notices, namely, the law and order situation in Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh; the law and order situation in Manipur; special category status to Odisha; the damage caused by Fengal cyclone in Tamil Nadu; the Adani bribery issue; the law and order situation in Delhi; the displacement of people in Wayanad due to landslide; and the attack on minorities in Bangladesh. Dhankhar dismissed the notices and proceeded with the zero hour with the opposition conceding after a feeble protest. The smooth functioning of the House facilitated the raising of different issues by the opposition, which is reportedly divided on what matter should be given precedence during protests.

GMR Group had in October said it had secured Rs 6,300 crore debt funding from ADIA and that the proceeds will be utilised for refinancing loans of GMR Enterprises, the promoter of GMR Airports.

Finance has lost 16% on bourses over the past three months amid rising regulatory scrutiny over the micro finance and unsecured consumer finance segments. While the company’s 26% loan book is comprised of microfinance segment, its exposure to highly leveraged customers in this category is just under 5%. In addition, the lender continued to grow loan book in the September quarter while retaining asset quality and interest margin, and improving return ratios. Analysts have a buy call on the stock given the company’s focus on the retail segment, initiative to improve asset quality and an attractive valuation. L&T Finance is a pan-India lender with presence across 20 states and two union territories through 209 branches and 1,934 micro finance meeting centres. Its loan book grew by 18% year-on-year to Rs 93,015 crore at the end of September 2024. Of this, retail finance including farm equipment, rural business, urban and small and medium enterprises (SME) finance formed Rs 88,975 crore.

They were later found to be members of Arambai Tenggol. The three arrested persons have been identified as — Ningombam Lemba Singh, Mangshatabam Poireinganba Meitei, Laishram Bidyas Singh. Further the following items were recovered from their possession. One Ghatak rifle along with one magazine and 5 live rounds, One .32 Pistol country made with magazine, three number of mobile phones, One four wheeler vehicle and other incriminating items”. Arambai Tenggol is a radical Meitei group.
