India record highest-ever team total in Women''s Test cricket
highest team total in women's Test cricket on day two of the one-off Test against South Africa, surpassing the previous best of 575/9 set by Australia. Australia had posted the total in Perth this February but India achieved the new record when Richa Ghosh hammered a four in the opening ball of the 109th over bowled by Annerie Dercksen. Much of the credit for the feat goes to Indian openers — Shafali Verma (205) and Smriti Mandhana (149) — who shared an iconic stand of 292 — the highest opening partnership in women's cricket. It has also been well aided by Jemimah Rodrigues (55) along with skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and Richa, who are currently unbeaten past their respective half-centuries.

A dream run continues, another ends: South Africa demolish Afghanistan to reach maiden World Cup final
WHAT HAPPENED? A clinical South Africa skittled Afghanistan for 56 on their way to a comprehensive 9-wicket victory in the first semi-final in Trinidad on Wednesday, sending the Proteas into their first ever final. It was a first victory in eight short-format World Cup semi-finals going back to 1992 for South Africa. South Africa ripped through the Afghan batting in less than 12 overs to restrict their shellshocked opponents to their lowest ever score in T20Is. Fazalhaq Farooqi bowled Quinton de Kock early, but Reeza Hendricks and skipper Aiden Markram got the Proteas to their target without further losses inside 9 overs. It was a demoralising end to Afghanistan’s fantastic run in the tournament where they beat New Zealand, Australia and Bangladesh to reach their maiden semifinal.

South Africa or Afghanistan set to create history with first ever T20 WC final appearance
Cricket World Cup across both white-ball formats will be up for grabs for South Africa and rising Asian side Afghanistan in the first semifinal of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 at Tarouba, Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday. Afghanistan's progression to the semi-finals of the World Cup has been a remarkable and wholesome story for a team who have been on the rise in this format for some time, with New Zealand and multi-time world conquerers Australia the highest-ranked teams facing the Afghan storm. Unbeaten South Africa stands in their way, with the nation hoping it is eighth-time lucky at a men's World Cup semi-final across formats, having lost all seven semifinals it has played so far, as per ICC.
