eVTOL player ePlane raises $14 million, anticipates parallel aviation industry & new jobs
ePlane Company, incubated at IIT-Madras and aiming to become one of the main players in India’s electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) mobility sector, on Friday announced the closure of a $14 million funding round. With this funding, ePlane is poised to become the largest-funded eVTOL player in India, the company said in a statement. Founder of the startup and IIT-Madras aerospace engineering professor Satya Chakravarthy told ET that the government's support and announcement of certification standards have helped strengthen investor confidence. “Among the new investors, we can clearly see that their conviction about air taxis is much stronger compared to their interest in just commercialising drones,” he said. The Series B round was co-led by Speciale Invest and Antares Ventures, with continued participation from Micelio Mobility, Naval Ravikant, Java Capital, Samarthya Investment Advisors, Redstart (from Naukri), and Anicut.

Heinrich Klaasen beats Virat Kohli as he tops IPL 2025 retention prices
Heinrich Klaasen received the highest retention price ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, surprising many as he surpassed Virat Kohli. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Thursday retained Klaasen for Rs 23 crore, underlining his impact and value to the team. Following Klaasen, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) retained Virat Kohli for Rs 21 crore. Although Kohli is one of the most accomplished players in the league, his retention price was slightly lower and the team also sealed only three spots including the former captain.

IPL 2025: Most expensive player retentions revealed
Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises announced their list of player retention on Thursday, October 31, ahead of the highly anticipated 2025 mega-auction. With franchises eager to secure their core talents, an impressive amount was spent to retain top players, including some rising stars. Notably, Punjab Kings took a conservative approach, retaining only two players, while other teams kept their essential players intact. The auction is scheduled for November and December, where franchises will look to fill the remaining slots. Rajasthan Royals (RR) committed to retaining six key players, leaving them with a remaining purse of Rs 41 crore for the auction. In contrast, Punjab Kings (PBKS) enter the bidding with a hefty Rs 110.5 crore, positioning them well to compete for high-value players. South African wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen emerged as the most expensive retention, with SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) valuing him at Rs 23 crore. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli secured his position as the priciest Indian player, with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) allocating Rs 21 crore to retain him.

KL Rahul likely to move on from Lucknow Super Giants after alleged fallout with owner
KL Rahul has been one of the most prolific run getters in the history of the Indian Premier League. Having debuted with Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2013, the 32-year-old has scored 4,683 runs in the 10 seasons that he has played. After playing just five matches in his first season, he moved to Sunrisers Hyderabad for a couple of seasons. However, his returns were average at best. 2016 proved to be the breakthrough season for Rahul, where he scored 397 runs at a strike rate of 146 in a star-studded RCB line-up that had the likes of Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle, AB De Villiers and Shane Watson. Unfortunately, he had to miss the 2017 season owing to injury and was shockingly released ahead of the 2018 mega auction. King XI Punjab (Now Punjab Kings) signed the batter in the auction, and he did not disappoint. Out of the five seasons for the franchise, he piled more than 600 runs in four years, and missed making a perfect five as he fell seven runs short in 2019.

IPL 2025 Retentions: RCB maestro Virat Kohli to return to bat for the IPL franchise in 2025?
Virat Kohli is no stranger to the Indian Premier League, often reminding fans of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)- because the beloved cricketer has been associated with the IPL team since its inception in 2008. Coincidentally, it was the same year that Kohli was selected to represent India in the Under-19 Cricket World Cup as Captain. It was also the year that forged an unbreakable bond between Kohli and RCB, as the cricketer continues to stay associated with the IPL franchise to this day. Leading India’s resounding win in the Under 19 World Cup of 2008, the then newbie Kohli would go on to recount his selection by the RCB as an ‘impactful moment’ for his career. RCB had prized Kohli’s skills for no less than USD 30,000 back then, according to one report.
