Provident MET Cooper Aviat Department Chandrababu Naidu in Delhi to push for early work on budget promises
Union Budget being passed in Parliament, Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is on a two-day visit to Delhi to push for early implementation of the promises made to his state in the Budget. Naidu met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, home minister Amit Shah and finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday. Naidu, whose Telugu Desam Party (TDP) provides the vital numerical support of 16 MPs to National Democratic Alliance (NDA), is expected to raise the issue of Central support for Polavaram irrigation project and development of Amravati as state capital. Naidu met Jal Shakti minister C R Patil on Saturday to discuss Polavaram project. Naidu also visited the civil aviation ministry to take stock of the various airports under developments and improvement of air connectivity in Andhra Pradesh.

NIRF rankers IIT Delhi and Anna University, receiving GST show cause notices worth several crores over the last few days on their past research funding, the Union Education ministry is learnt to have stepped into the picture. ET has learnt that the ministry is closely examining the issue and may soon escalate the matter to the Finance Ministry and GST Council for reconsideration. IIT Delhi and Anna University apart, several state and deemed universities are among institutes that have received show cause notices earlier this week from the Directorate General of Goods and Services Tax (GST) Intelligence. Most institutes have been asked to respond to the notice within a month, failing which action would be taken against them.

They (BJP) tried to keep me in jail somehow in fake cases till Delhi Assembly polls. But due to the blessings of Bajrangbali and Ram ji, their conspiracies failed,» Sisodia said addressing a gathering of people. He said AAP convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal too will be out of prison.

doctors' strike over the alleged rape and killing of one of their colleagues in a Kolkata hospital is gaining momentum as major private hospitals in Delhi joined the protest on Friday, shutting down their OPDs, elective surgeries and IPD services. Resident doctors in the capital have been on an indefinite strike since Monday. As the strike entered its sixth day on Friday, private hospitals also joined the protest alongside government hospitals. Hospitals like Sir Ganga Ram, Fortis and Apollo have halted their OPD, elective surgeries and IPD services. Dr Ajay Swaroop, chairman of the Board of Management at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, said, «We have declared a complete shutdown of OPD, elective OTs and IPD work. Unfortunately, I believe that protests and discontinuation of duties have now become necessary to pressure the authorities and expedite the investigation process, so that justice is not delayed.»
