UPS Career wellness Department bowling Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants aim for strong IPL start under new leadership
Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants, under new captains, will be eager to make a strong start to their IPL campaign when they face off here on Monday. For a second year running, the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Stadium will host two home matches for Delhi Capitals. Pant, who had been a Delhi Capitals' player throughout his IPL career and also their captain, left the franchise ahead of the mega auction last year and was snapped up by LSG for a record price of Rs 27 crore. While his pay cheque will keep the Indian wicketkeeper-batter in limelight through the course of this season, it will also present Pant an opportunity to make a strong case for himself in the white-ball formats as he didn't get a game during the recent Champions Trophy. On the other hand, KL Rahul, who led LSG for two years since their IPL debut, has switched to Delhi Capitals, where he would be a vital cog in their plans, not as a leader but as a key batting mainstay, with Indian all-rounder Axar Patel being appointed captain. Like Mumbai Indians, DC too were spoilt for choices when it came to picking their captain as they also have Faf du Plessis apart from Rahul but the franchise opted for all-round Patel, whose career graph has been on a rise.

Justice Yashwant Varma's residence. Delhi High Court judge Justice Yashwant Varma was on Friday at the centre of a huge row over reports of alleged cash discovery from his official home after a fire incident following which its chief justice initiated an in-house inquiry against him and the Supreme Court clarified the move to transfer him was not linked to the probe. After reports emerged that Justice Varma, 56, was being repatriated to Allahabad High Court in the wake of the alleged cash discovery, the Supreme Court came out with a clarification that the proposal to transfer him was «independent and separate from the in-house enquiry procedure». Justice Varma, who is the second senior-most judge in the Delhi High Court, was appointed to the court on October 11, 2021. The purported discovery of the huge stash of cash happened following a fire at Varma's Lutyens Delhi residence at around 11.35 pm on March 14, prompting the Delhi fire department personnel to rush to the spot and douse it. The quantum of the alleged discovered amount was also not known. The incident created ripples in the legal circuit, with many voices calling for the judge's resignation. UPS Citi Parke WhatsApp prevention guidelines Old cars, no fuel from April 1: Delhi petrol pumps to scan and stop overage vehicles, impose hefty penalties
overage vehicles, petrol pumps across the city are being equipped with Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras from April 1, as per TOI. These ANPR cameras will help identify vehicles exceeding the age limits set by the National Green Tribunal (NGT), enabling petrol stations to refuse fuel to such vehicles. A senior official stated that the initiative aims to ensure better compliance with the government's directive by preventing older vehicles from accessing fuel at authorised stations across Delhi. As per NGT's order, the restriction applies to petrol vehicles over 15 years old and diesel vehicles older than 10 years. Environment Minister Manjinder Sirsa said on Friday, «To reduce vehicular pollution, devices are being installed at fuel stations throughout the city to identify such vehicles, and these cars will be denied fuel.» He further explained that the cameras read and digitalise number plates in real time. Delhi has nearly 500 fuel stations, and ANPRs are already installed at 80% of them. Sirsa mentioned that when an overage vehicle arrives for refuelling, the system will announce it as a defaulter. This system is connected to a central database that checks for violators based on their registration numbers, retrieving details from the government's Vahan portal. Delhi's government has deregistered over 59 lakh such vehicles till last September, with two-wheelers making up the largest share. However, many of these vehicles continue to violate NGT's guidelines and operate on the roads. Delhi began a drive to lift overage vehicles in March 2021. Sirsa added, «We are very serious on the issue of vehicular pollution, and this initiative is part of that.»

Provident Action Opinion Food social consequences Vaccines 'Adopt or don't feed': Delhi resident calls dog-lovers the 'worst' and sparks debate on feeding strays
Delhi resident recently shared his frustration about dog lovers, expressing that if someone truly cares for dogs, they should adopt them rather than just feed them. His concerns arose after a stray dog bit his house help, a dog that his neighbour regularly feeds outside the Redditor’s doorstep. He took to social media to voice his opinion, warning about the risks associated with feeding stray dogs, particularly the threat of diseases they may carry. He highlighted that this was not the first time such an incident had occurred in his locality. Several housemaids and delivery personnel had already been bitten before, and in one unfortunate case, a woman lost her life due to a dog attack. The situation has left him deeply concerned about the safety of people in his building, especially those who rely on daily wages to support their families. The resident also pointed out the dangers of rabies, emphasizing that even with vaccinations, the disease remains fatal. He urged people to be more responsible when feeding stray dogs, suggesting that if they must provide food, they should do so away from residential areas to prevent the risk of attacks.

UPS Provident wellness Justice Equality Courts Maintenance law meant to promote equality among spouses, not idleness: Delhi HC
Delhi High Court has held. The high court said qualified wives, having an earning capacity but desirous of remaining idle, should not set up a claim for interim maintenance. «Section 125 (order for maintenance of wives, children and parents) of the CrPC carries the legislative intent to maintain equality among the spouses, provide protection to the wives, children and parents, and not promote idleness» Justice Chandra Dhari Singh said in an order on Wednesday. The court passed the order while dismissing a woman's plea challenging a trial court's order denying her interim maintenance from her estranged husband. The court, however, encouraged the woman to actively look for a job to become self-sufficient as she already got wide exposure and is aware of the worldly affairs unlike other women who are not educated and completely dependent upon their spouses for basic sustenance. The couple got married in December 2019 and left for Singapore. It was alleged by the woman that owing to the cruelties done to her by her husband and his family, she returned to India in February 2021.
