Delhi High Court on Tuesday ordered auctioning of the Fortis trademark in connection with the ₹3,500 crore arbitral award passed in favour of Japanese pharma major Daiichi Sankyo and against the former Ranbaxy promoters. Justice Sachin Datta passed the order on an application filed by Daiichi Sankyo seeking the sale of the Fortis trademark, owned by RHC Healthcare Management Services which is one of the judgment debtors in the matter.

The launch coincides with the ninth National Ayurveda Day, celebrated on 29 October, which this year carried the theme “Ayurveda Innovations for Global Health.” This year's theme emphasised the importance of integrating Ayurveda with modern science to address critical health issues like diabetes, IISc said in a media statement. These centres, established under the "Ayurswasthya Yojna" programme, will be led by institutions like IISc, IIT Delhi, Jawaharlal Nehru University Delhi, CSIR-Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow, and so on. Backed by a grant of Rs 52.47 crore, these centres will spearhead cutting-edge research, education, and healthcare innovation in the field of Ayurveda, by providing scientific underpinning for traditional knowledge, the statement added.

Swiggy is increasing its investment in its quick-commerce business, Swiggy Instamart to Rs 1,179 crore, up 20% from Rs 982 crore mentioned in the red herring prospectus filed on Tuesday. The Bengaluru-based company said it plans to invest Rs 755.4 crore to expand its dark store network, with an additional Rs 423.3 crore for lease and licensing payments for these stores or warehouses. Swiggy Instamart has around 557 dark stores as of June 30 and plans to now take it to 741 compared to earlier plan of 538 per the draft red herring prospectus in September.

New Delhi: Amid rising complaints of ineffective enforcement of environmental regulations by State Pollution Control Boards (SPCBs), the Centre is set to introduce stricter criteria for appointing chairpersons to these critical bodies, responsible for enforcing the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act and the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, two officials told Mint. Narendra Modi Tuesday hit out at Delhi and West Bengal governments for not implementing the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme out of «political interests» and said he was pained that the elderly from these two states cannot avail free treatment under the expanded programme. The prime minister on Tuesday extended his government's flagship health insurance scheme Ayushman Bharat to all senior citizens aged 70 years and above. «I apologise to all the elderly aged above 70 years of Delhi and West Bengal that I cannot serve them. I would get to know about your pains and sufferings but I won't be able to help you,» Modi said. «The reason is that the state governments are not implementing the scheme due to their political interests,» he said.

Anant Raj Ltd will raise up to Rs 2,000 crore via Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP) for expansion and development of projects. Earlier this year, the company had raised Rs 500 crore QIP and used part of the funds raised to bring down the debt and working capital requirements.

Uttarakhand High Court has issued a contempt notice to Dr Vivek Joshi, Secretary Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) for allegedly defying its order over the empanelment of an Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer with the Centre. Justice Alok Kumar Verma issued the notice to the DoPT on October 23 on a plea filed by IFS officer Sanjiv Chaturvedi who alleged a wilful defiance of the court's order on his empanelment. A division bench of the high court had directed the Central government in September to provide Chaturvedi with his empanelment documents as a joint secretary (JS). He had moved the high court after the Central government passed an order saying the «appointment committee of cabinet had not approved» his empanelment for «holding the post of JS or equivalent at the Centre».

AAP leader Satyendar Jain. Justice Manoj Kumar Ohri granted regular bail to the duo nearly 10 days after the former Delhi minister was granted relief. A court had granted bail to Satyendar Jain, who was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in May 2022, citing «delay in trial» and his «long incarceration». The case pertains to allegations against Satyendar Jain of having laundered money through four companies allegedly linked to him. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has claimed that Vaibhav Jain and Ankush Jain were business associates of the former Delhi minister and abetted the commission of the offence.

Delhi government will deploy 10,000 civil defence volunteers, who were terminated from service last year while working as bus marshals, to aid in implementing measures related to mitigation of pollution, Chief Minister Atishi said on Monday. Atishi, in a press conference, said they will be deployed alongside teams from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC), the Transport Department among others. In a meeting, officials strategised the role of civil defence volunteers and bus marshals across the city to help tackle air pollution, Atishi said.

Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav on Monday said a 'Delhi Nyay Yatra' will be organised next month on the lines of Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra, to interact with the people of the city and learn about their issues and problems. The march will start on November 8 from Rajghat and conclude on December 4, ahead of the assembly elections in Delhi. During a launch event of the 'Delhi Nyay Yatra' at the Constitution Club here, Yadav said it will have four phases. «During the yatra, we will interact with the people of Delhi to learn about the issues and problems they have been facing for the last 10 years. The yatra will start on November 8 from Rajghat. It will have four phases and in the first phase, we will cover 16 assembly segments,» he said

Baramulla MP Sheikh Abdul Rashid on Monday surrendered before authorities in Tihar Jail here after the end of his interim bail, prison officials said. The Awami Ittehad Party leader, who has been arrested in a terror funding case, reached jail premises at noon after a Delhi court, which was scheduled to pass the order on his bail plea, adjourned the matter. Additional Sessions Judge Chander Jit Singh had on September 10 granted interim bail to Rashid, alias Engineer Rashid, to enable him to campaign for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections while deferring the order on his regular bail plea. Rashid's interim bail was previously extended till October 28 on the grounds of his father's poor health. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) hadn't opposed the plea after verifying the documents.
