Arnold Schwarzenegger opens up about overcoming his accent, reflects on rivalry with Sylvester Stallone
Arnold Schwarzenegger, the iconic action star, shared some revealing insights on a recent episode of «The Graham Norton Show.» He discussed his efforts to shed his thick Austrian accent early in his career and how it unexpectedly became an asset in Hollywood. Reflecting on his journey in the entertainment industry, Schwarzenegger disclosed, «I had an English coach and an acting coach and a speech coach and an accent-removal coach, who has passed away since then, but I should have otherwise gotten my money back.» He recalled the advice he received from his accent-removal coach, saying, «I remember he'd say, 'You know you always say s-ree. It's three, with a T-H.' So he had me say, 'Three thousand three hundred and thirty-three and one-third,' with the T-H and not with the S.» Schwarzenegger's determination to improve his accent was a part of his early efforts to establish himself in the industry.

Three-time Oscar nominee actress Piper Laurie passes away at 91
Piper Laurie, the strong-willed, Oscar-nominated actor who performed in acclaimed roles despite at one point abandoning acting altogether in search of a «more meaningful» life, died early Saturday at her home in Los Angeles. She was 91. Laurie died of old age, her manager, Marion Rosenberg, told The Associated Press via email, adding that she was «a superb talent and a wonderful human being.» Laurie arrived in Hollywood in 1949 as Rosetta Jacobs and was quickly given a contract with Universal-International, a new name that she hated and a string of starring roles with Ronald Reagan, Rock Hudson and Tony Curtis, among others. She went on to receive Academy Award nominations for three distinct films: The 1961 poolroom drama 'The Hustler'; the film version of Stephen King's horror classic 'Carrie,' in 1976; and the romantic drama 'Children of a Lesser God,' in 1986.
