The actor claimed that at that time, he was «so shaken» that he didn't think he could get offers for movies without going to auditions. Fortunately, when the opportunity to work on Nawazuddin Siddiqui's movie ‘Haddi’ arose, he was ready for it.

Vodafone Idea seals Rs 13,500 crore equipment deal with Nokia
Vodafone Idea (Vi) has inked a near ₹13,500-crore deal with Finland's Nokia to buy equipment over a three-year span for its 4G network expansion and 5G roll out. Multiple persons privy to the deal details said Nokia will supply 4G and 5G network equipment to Vi in nine circles. The Finnish gear maker will supply Vi its 5G AirScale network gear portfolio and also upgrade the telco's existing 4G network with multiband radios and baseband equipment, which can also support 5G. The deal is part of Vi's recently announced plans to buy $3.6 billion (read: ₹30,000 crore) of 4G and 5G gear from Nokia, Ericsson and Samsung over a three-year span to bolster its 4G operation and roll out 5G networks in key cities across its 17 priority circles. The move was seen as a significant step from Vi to improve its competitiveness in the market against bigger adversaries Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel and also stem customer losses.

First consignment of Hilsa reaches West Bengal from Bangladesh, second lot to arrive soon
Hilsa have reached West Bengal from Bangladesh, after the interim government in the neighbouring country allowed export of the fish to till mid-October during the Durga puja festival, importers said on Saturday. Another consignment of the same amount of 'Padmar Ilish' (hilsa caught from Padma river), a favourite delicacy of Bengalis, is expected very soon. The Fish Importers' Association recently wrote to Bangladesh's interim government urging it to allow export of Hilsa as it has been doing during the festival as a goodwill gesture for the last five years. «The first consignment of over 50 metric tonnes arrived two days back via Petrapole border. It was sent to several wholesale markets in Kolkata and districts. Another consignment of around 50 MT is expected to arrive in a day,» Association secretary Syed Anwar Maqsood told PTI.

Medical bills in India are rapidly becoming bigger, reveals new index
Healthcare costs in India are increasing at an annual rate of 14 per cent, the ACKO India Health Insurance Index 2024 shows. The report reveals how that double-digit inflation is causing the rise in healthcare expenses. The index revealed that 23 per cent of hospital costs are funded through borrowings, adding financial strain on families. With 62 percent of healthcare expenses paid out of pocket, the report emphasised the need for improved health coverage to protect individuals from unexpected health crises. The report identified Delhi as having the highest health insurance claims for kidney disease in India, followed by Kochi. «Delhi is the capital for kidney disease, followed by Kochi. Delhi NCR had the highest share of claims related to kidney health. Kochi, Secunderabad, Bengaluru & Jaipur's share of claims was above the National average,» the index report stated. It noted that the average age of patients with kidney issues is 47, and the largest bill filed for kidney-related problems reached Rs 24,73,894.

Warehousing demand from manufacturing companies up in H1
manufacturing hub is fuelling warehousing demand from manufacturing-related sectors with multinationals setting up factories in the country. Demand from these sectors climbed to 25% of total domestic warehousing demand in the first half of calendar 2024 from 15% in 2019 led by factors like adoption of the China plus one strategy by multinationals and supportive Indian government policies such as the production linked incentive (PLI) scheme, which currently covers 14 sectors. During H1 2024, total leasing of warehousing space from manufacturing-related sectors reached 4.1 million sq ft, according to CBRE South Asia, a real estate consulting firm.

West Bengal govt earmarks land to set up GCC in Kolkata, says CM Mamata Banerjee
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Thursday that her government has earmarked land for the establishment of a global capability centre in Kolkata in the semiconductor sector and a detailed discussion was held today with the US Consul General. «We have kept land ready for the purpose of formation of the global capability centre for the semiconductor industry. If this centre is set up, our talent pool will be utilized. It is a big achievement for West Bengal and we are happy. We have been pursuing it for the last three years and huge employment will be generated,» Mamata Banerjee said today. The state government held discussion with the US Consul General today in connection with the semiconductor and Chief Secretary said all support for the hub will be provided. «A team from the Bengal government is holding a discussion presently with their team in Bengaluru. A timeline will be fixed, We have held a meeting with the US Consul General Kathy Giles-Diaz, who was in Kolkata today,» Chief Secretary Manoj Pant said.

RG Kar case: TMC MLA appears before CBI sleuths for questioning
Nirmal Ghosh appeared before CBI officers on Monday in connection with its probe into the rape-murder of a woman medic at RG Kar hospital, officials said. Ghosh, TMC's Panihati MLA, arrived at CBI's CGO Complex office in Salt Lake around 10.30 am, they said. «We had summoned him for questioning on the RG Kar hospital incident,» a CBI officer said. Housing sales may decline 18% in September Quarter
Housing sales are estimated to decline 18% during July-September quarter across nine major cities to 1,04,393 units on high base, according to PropEquity data. 18,400 individuals on first list for quicker immigration processing
High Net Worth Individuals (HNWI), Chief Executive Officers (CEO), businessmen and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) are part of India's first Fast Track Immigration-Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP). As many as 18,400 individuals, frequent global travellers and OCI card holders have been registered in the programme online for availing the service, said a senior home ministry official. Besides Delhi's IGI Airport, the services in the first phase will be made operational at major airports including Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Cochin, Ahmedabad. According to officials, 60% faster immigration clearance to 1,500 passengers have been granted through e-Gates so far. The facility will be expanded to 21 airports. When asked about the personal data of those enrolled for the programme, a senior official said, «the personal data is safe and secure and details are not to be shared.» As per the programme, «Eligible individuals can apply online for the fast-track immigration facility. Those with approved applications are called to submit their biometrics (fingerprint and facial image) at the international airports in India or the Foreigners Regional Registration Offices (FRRO).»
