Rapper Sean 'Diddy' Combs files appeal for release ahead of upcoming sex trafficking trial
Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn while he awaits trial on sex trafficking charges. On September 30, his legal team submitted a formal notice of appeal in Manhattan federal court, indicating their intent to challenge Judge Andrew L. Carter’s ruling. The judge had determined that Combs poses a potential threat to witnesses if released, a central point that Combs’ defense team is now contesting. Combs, also known as Puff Daddy and P. Diddy, has been held in detention since September 17, after pleading not guilty to charges accusing him of orchestrating elaborate sexual events involving drug-fueled performances. These performances, referred to as "Freak Offs," allegedly involved Combs using his power and influence to coerce women into engaging in sexual activities with male sex workers. Prosecutors stated in the indictment, “For decades, Sean Combs abused, threatened, and coerced women and those around him to satisfy his sexual desires, protect his reputation, and hide his actions.”

NYC Mayor Eric Adams charged with taking bribes and illegal campaign funds from foreign sources
Eric Adams was indicted Thursday on charges that he took illegal campaign contributions and bribes from foreign nationals in exchange for favors that included helping Turkish officials get fire safety approvals for a new diplomatic building in the city. Adams, a former police officer, faces conspiracy, wire fraud and bribery charges in a five-count indictment that describes a decade-long trail of crimes. The U.S. attorney's office in Manhattan alleges in the indictment that Adams «compounded his gains» from the illegal contributions by gaming the city's matching funds program, which provides a generous match for small dollar donations. His campaign received more than $10,000 in matching funds as a result of the false certifications, according to the indictment.

Sam Bankman-Fried's jury only saw 'half the picture,' lawyer says in appeal
Sam Bankman-Fried of stealing billions of dollars from customers of his FTX cryptocurrency exchange only saw «half the picture» because the judge did not allow in critical evidence, his lawyer argued in their appeal on Friday. In a 102-page brief filed with the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, Bankman-Fried's lawyer wrote that U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan erred in preventing the 32-year-old former billionaire from introducing evidence to back up his belief that FTX had enough funds to cover customer withdrawals. «The government thus presented a false narrative that FTX's customers, lenders, and investors had permanently lost their money,» lawyer Alexandra Shapiro wrote in urging the appeals court to overturn Bankman-Fried's conviction and 25-year prison sentence. «The jury was only allowed to see half the picture.»

Court revives Sarah Palin's libel lawsuit against The New York Times
federal appeals court revived Sarah Palin's libel case against The New York Times on Wednesday, citing errors by a lower court judge, particularly his decision to dismiss the lawsuit while a jury was deliberating. The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan wrote that Judge Jed S. Rakoff's decision in February 2022 to dismiss the lawsuit mid-deliberations improperly intruded on the jury's work. It also found that the erroneous exclusion of evidence, an inaccurate jury instruction and an erroneous response to a question from the jury tainted the jury's decision to rule against Palin. It declined, however, to grant Palin's request to force Rakoff off the case on grounds he was biased against her. The 2nd Circuit said she had offered no proof.

Where will Barron attend college? Here's what Trump says
Barron Trump, the youngest member of the Trump family, plans to enroll in a New York university this autumn. Prior to his campaign stop in Michigan, the former president stated in an exclusive interview that he's all set in a certain school that's very good. The former president majored in economics when he graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1968. The 45th president stated that although the school is located in the Empire State, a specific announcement about it will be made soon by his team. Trump grinned on being questioned whether the said school was New York University and insisted that he would not identify the university until the announcement went live. Barron Trump is smart and has always been a very good student at school. May marked Barron Trump's 18th high school graduation. His father had previously stated that he was in the process of choosing between multiple schools. According to Trump, his 6-foot-7 son is interested in politics and occasionally gives him advice.
