DLF to generate Rs 1,400 crore from Gurugram and Panchkula projects
DLF plans to generate sales of Rs 1,400 crore from its latest commercial project in Gurugram and residential project in Panchkula, said Aakash Ohri, joint managing director of DLF Home Developers Ltd. The company is on track to surpass its guidance of launching luxury residential projects worth Rs 12,400 crore in 2023-24, he said, amid the ongoing price increase in the premium property segment. Additionally, the real estate developer's recently unveiled Central 67 project, spanning 8.69 acres and featuring shop-cum-office spaces, is expected to generate revenue of Rs 700 crore. «The project is fully sold out, with substantial interest from end users. The high-street segment is in high demand, and the presence of several residential developments in proximity to the project will attract foot traffic to the complex,» said Ohri. Plot sizes start at 140 square yards and the project provides dedicated space for commercial activities. «Located at the Sohna elevated corridor, this project assures effortless connectivity to major business hubs and cities through the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor, ensuring convenience,» said Ohri. The company is expecting another Rs 700 crore from The Valley Orchard, low-rise residences in Panchkula, Haryana.

Food price spikes may return: MPC
MUMBAI: The Reserve Bank of India’s rate-setting committee expressed concerns about a possible resurgence in food inflation ahead, minutes of the panel’s 6-8 December meeting showed. The unease prompted the Monetary Policy Committee’s (MPC) six members to keep interest rates steady in a unanimous decision. This is the fifth consecutive time that the repo rate, which was last raised by 25 bps to 6.5% at the meeting of February 2023, has remained at that level.

Sebi pitches instant equity settlements
NEW DELHI/MUMBAI: India took a step a closer to instant settlements in share trading on Friday, with the stock market regulator proposing it as an option in addition to the existing Transaction+1 (T+1) settlement cycle. Market participants said retail investors making delivery-based trades stand to benefit if the proposal in the regulator’s consultation paper makes it to the final stage, since they will receive proceeds instantaneously. This would be especially beneficial for investors selling shares since they will immediately receive money, which can be reinvested elsewhere.

Does the future of Hapus lie in fruit wine?
But Noshirwan Mistry, who has a large mango orchard in Dapoli in Ratnagiri district, tells me of a less happy reason to make fruit wine. Ratnagiri is ground zero for Alphonsos, the mangoes most prized in Maharashtra and Gujarat. Because of their good travelling properties and early proximity to shipping networks from Mumbai, Alphonsos have also become the Indian mango variety best known abroad.

Mumbai is on aerial-attack alert
The scale of the attack aside, when Hamas terrorists flew into Israel on 7 October using paragliders, it took everybody by surprise. After 9/11, air attacks weren’t unexpected, but little had anybody imagined terrorists could use such small flying machines to execute an attack that big, even as Israeli defences were perhaps focused more on land routes.
