NEW DELHI : The Union health ministry is working on a national plan to combat anti-microbial resistance (AMR) that is becoming a public health threat, a government official aware of the matter said. The ministry has formed a high-level committee to develop a National Action Plan Anti-Microbial Resistance 2.0 (NAP AMR), the official said on condition of anonymity. AMR occurs when bacteria, viruses and fungi become immune to medication over time, making it harder to treat ailments.

New Delhi: Development banks should change their approach to bring private sector into the centre of efforts to mobilize finance for sustainable development strategies, according to the independent panel that advise G20 nations on improving the balance sheets of multilateral institutions. In a report titled ‘Strengthening multilateral development banks-the triple agenda’ presented to the G20 finance ministers and central bank governors, a nine-member committee argued that development banks should engage with the private sector in a new way, including by co-creating investment opportunities and programmes.

New Delhi: The Centre will likely table the New Drugs, Medical Devices and Cosmetics Bill, 2023, in the Parliament in the monsoon session that starts Thursday. There are 21 new bills and seven old bills listed for discussion during the session which will last till 11 August.

New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department has said that extremely heavy rainfall will likely continue over Maharashtra, Gujarat, Konkan and Goa today. Maharashtra received 269% excess rains in the past 24 hours ended 0800m on 19 July. With this, the rainfall deficit in the state has come down to 9% compared with a deficit of 17% as of 18 July.

The release of the TCRM Matrix framework under the NITI Working Paper series offers valuable insights and practical intelligence to stakeholders involved in the technology development cycle.  The Working Paper casts light on the historical evolution of technology assessment frameworks, including the Technology Readiness Level (TRL), Commercialization Readiness Level (CRL), and Market Readiness Level (MRL) scales.  “By building upon these frameworks‘ core principles, the TCRM Matrix framework presents an integrated assessment model that offers in-depth insights and actionable intelligence to stakeholders at every stage of the technology development cycle," the NITI Aayog said in a statement.

New Delhi: The Indian crude oil basket which was largely subdued in May and June has witnessed over 4% increase in its average price in July amid global supply concerns. The average Indian crude basket for July stands at $78.22 per barrel, compared to $74.93 a barrel in June. In May, it averaged at $74.98 a barrel as prices eased amid growing concerns of a global slowdown.

India and the US have informed the World Trade Organization (WTO) on the mutual resolution all the six trade disputes, in line with the commitment they made last month. In five separate notifications to the WTO on Tuesday, they asked the multilateral trade watchdog to terminate these disputes.

New delhi: Free replacement of parts of goods under warranty does not attract GST but tax would be payable if customers are charged for new parts, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) said in an order, giving effect to the decisions of the Goods and Services Tax Council meeting earlier this month. Free replacement of parts does not attract tax because its cost is included in the original sale of the item, CBIC said.

New Delhi: Defence minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday held talks with his Argentinian counterpart Jorge Enrique Taiana to discuss measures to bolster bilateral defence relationship, the ministry of defence said. “Both ministers discussed the ongoing defence cooperation initiatives, including measures to enhance defence industrial partnership," it added. Earlier in the day, Taiana visited the National War Memorial and laid a wreath while paying homage to the fallen heroes.
