UPS Target Power SJVN’s hydro power stations generate record 50.498 MU in single day
New Delhi: State-owned SJVN Ltd on Tuesday said that its two hydro power stations in Himachal Pradesh have together reported a record power generation of 50.498 million units (MU). The Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station, with a capacity of 1500 MW, contributed 39.527 MU, while the Rampur Hydro Power Station, with a capacity of 412 MW, generated 10.971 MU.

NEW DELHI : India, one of the world’s largest cotton producers, risks becoming a net importer after both exports and production registered a record decline in the current financial year amid weak demand for textile products in the West due to the long-drawn Ukraine war. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) expects India’s cotton exports to slip to its lowest in 19 years during the current crop season between October 2022 and September 2023 as it expects farmers to shift to other profitable crops such as oilseeds and pulses.

New Delhi: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has constituted a committee of experts to carry out safety inspection of the Bengaluru-Mysuru Access Controlled Highway. The committee is currently visiting the site and will conclude their study by 20 July. Light to moderate rain is also expected over and adjoining areas of Hodal of Haryana, Saharanpur, Deoband, Chandpur, Sikandrabad, Bulandshahar, Nandgaon, Barsana, Mathura in Uttar Pradesh, and Nadbai, Bayana of Rajasthan.

New Delhi: Finnish telecom gear maker Nokia and India’s Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC) will train 300 people in 5G, IoT and allied skills at the Nokia Centre of Excellence which was inaugurated at ITI Kubernagar, Gujarat, Monday.   The centre is setting up a skill lab for training of the candidates with the aim of providing placement offers within 4-6 weeks of course completion to at least 70% of learners. Digital Progressive Racing Rajeev Chandrasekhar says will request GST Council to reconsider 28% tax on online gaming
New Delhi: The ministry of electronics and IT, the nodal ministry regulating online gaming, will ask the GST Council to reconsider its decision of levying 28% tax on online gaming after the regulatory framework around the online gaming rules develops, minister of state Rajeev Chandrasekhar said Monday at an event.   “We are only in the nascent stages of creating a sustainable, permissible online gaming framework. So we will do that and go back to the GST Council and maybe request their consideration on the new regulatory framework," he said.   The GST Council on July 11 said that the government will impose a goods and service tax of 28% on the turnover of online gaming companies, horse racing and casinos.   Chandrasekhar added that the GST Council, which was a federal body had been working on the issue for the past three years while the regulatory framework for online gaming only began in January 2023.  “The GST Council is not the Government of India. NEW DELHI : Large rice companies, traders and exporters are rushing to secure letters of credit (LCs) for future shipments, fearing that rising prices may trigger export curbs on non-basmati varieties, three people aware of the matter said. Securing LCs will enable these entities to export rice varieties even after the announcement of a ban, as seen earlier in the case of the ban on broken-rice exports in September last year. Concerns of export curbs and the additional LCs may push up India’s overall rice exports in July.

Financial Stability Board Monday proposed global rules for crypto firms mandating introduction of safeguards to prevent casualties such as exchange collapse. The recommendations, issued at the direction of G20, also revised its existing recommendations for stablecoins. UPS India, Iran plan to route Russia trade through Chabahar
NEW DELHI : India and Iran plan to step up operationalizing the International North South Trade Corridor (INSTC) in a move to boost trade with Russia, according to Mohammad Miri, an advisor to the Chabahar Free Zone in Iran. Following up on earlier agreements, a trial shipment to test trade links from Russia to India will be attempted in the next 6-8 months. The shipment will go through the strategically vital Chabahar Port, while an earlier shipment in 2022 went through the more established Bandar Abbas port.
