Usha Uthup for an unforgettable rendition of “Summer Wine” at CNN’s 'SheShakti2024' event. The classic tune, originally by Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra, set a nostalgic tone for the evening, as the audience watched in awe. Usha Uthup playfully nudged the Chief Justice to sing along, eliciting laughter from the crowd and a warm smile from his wife, Kalpana Das. The enchanting lyrics of the song—“Strawberries, cherries, and an angel's kiss in spring, My summer wine is really made from all these things”—added a touch of elegance and fun to the celebration of women’s achievements.

GST exemption to foreign airlines will burnish India’s image: IATA director general
Willie Walsh, director general of International Air Transport Association (IATA) said. Giving a major relief to foreign airlines, the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council on Monday decided to exempt import of services by an establishment of a foreign airline. The relief was given citing that Indian carriers get similar tax benefits abroad. “The issue was becoming concerning for the airlines. But with this change in regulation, it looks to be very optimistic for India,” Walsh said on the sidelines of the Asia Pacific Ministerial Conference on Civil Aviation being held at New Delhi.

Ukraine wants India to play more active role to end Russia’s war
United Nations Security Council, Ukraine’s ambassador in New Delhi said. Ukraine wants India to “moderate” talks between the two warring nations and use its ties with Russia to convince Moscow to join peace talks, Oleksandr Polishchuk said Tuesday. Ukraine has proposed India hold a peace summit before November 2024 aimed at ending the conflict, but it’s not clear yet if New Delhi will agree, he said. “If India is aiming for permanent seat in the United Nation’s Security Council to serve its own interest, it is setting the bar too low,” Polishchuck said.

Spain's Zelestra plans $5 bn investment to set up 10 GW green power capacity
New Delhi: Spain’s Zelestra plans to invest $5 billion in India to build 10GW of wind and solar power capacity by the end of the decade, a top executive said, doubling its previous target of achieving 5GW by 2026. The company, backed by private equity firm EQT, may also enter India’s lucrative commercial and industrial sector as part of the expanded plan, chief executive officer Leo Moreno said in an interview. Typically, renewable energy projects raise 30% equity and 70% project finance, but given the strong backing from EQT, Zelestra won’t need to raise any external equity, Moreno said.
