Pune water tanker disappears into sinkhole as road crumbles in seconds; Video goes viral
Pune Municipal Corporation vanished into a huge pit after a section of the road collapsed suddenly in the Budhwar Peth area of Pune. CCTV footage captured the moment when the road caved in from behind the tanker, showing its rear wheels sinking first as the ground gave way. The incident, which occurred at around 4 PM, startled residents in the densely populated area. Videos of the collapse quickly circulated on social media, showing the moment the interlocking cement block-paved ground gave way under the weight of the vehicle. Thankfully, there were no injuries in the incident. According to officials, the driver of the water tanker managed to escape as the truck did not fully submerge into the muddy water-filled pit. The footage showed the rear wheels sinking, but the front of the vehicle remained above ground. «The driver of the Pune Municipal Corporation truck was able to get out since the truck did not completely drown in the big pit filled with muddy water,» officials confirmed. The truck had been in the area for drainage cleaning work when the road collapsed.

No EY representatives at Anna Sebastian's funeral. India head's comment sparks another debate on social media
Anna Sebastian Perayil, a 26-year-old Chartered Accountant who passed her exams in 2023, tragically passed away after working at Ernst & Young (EY) Pune office for just four months. According to a letter her mother, Anita Augustine, wrote to Rajiv Memani, the Chairman and Managing Partner of EY India, Anna had been overworked to the point of breaking. In her letter, Anita Augustine expressed the deep anguish the family felt, not only from the loss of their daughter but also from the apparent lack of empathy shown by Anna's employers. “No one from EY attended Anna's funeral,” she wrote. The absence of her colleagues and managers during such a crucial time added to the family's sorrow. According to her mother, Anna had given her all to EY, yet in her final moments, no one from the organization was present to pay their respects. Anna's death and her mother's emotional letter have since gone viral on social media, sparking conversations about the toxic work culture in many multinational corporations.

Ajit Pawar expresses disappointment over unacknowledged Baramati development efforts
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar expressed disappointment on Tuesday over the lack of recognition for his development efforts in Baramati. Despite securing significant funds for the constituency, Pawar feels his contributions have not been fully appreciated by the people. He highlighted the importance of acknowledging achievements, noting that even completed work can be overlooked if not properly highlighted. Pawar reflected on his loss in the Lok Sabha elections, accepting responsibility but pointing to challenges such as the Covid pandemic and limited time out of power, which he said reduced his productive years to three. Despite the substantial funds Baramati received, Pawar believes his efforts have been taken for granted.

S N Kalyani in favour of her son Kalyani Group Chairman, Baba Kalyani, and he has nothing to do with any of the litigations that his mother had initiated during her lifetime, the group said on Monday. Late S N Kalyani and Gaurishankar Kalyani (and his family) have been staying at their residence Parvti Nivas, when she made her will in 2012. Production of 'new will' gives fresh twist to Kalyani family feud
Gaurishankar Kalyani, brother of Baba Kalyani, has filed an affidavit in the Pune Civil Court challenging the execution of his late mother Sulochana Kalyani's 2012 will. Gaurishankar produced a new will dated December 9, 2022, containing several serious accusations against Baba Kalyani. In the affidavit, the late Sulochana reportedly wrote Baba had taken control of most of the family's wealth, leaving her and her husband, Neelkanth Kalyani, with a small portion. «Between 1992 and 1994, Baba seized control of several companies, including Bharat Forge and Kalyani Steels, from my husband. After 1994, we were left with only a small share of the wealth my husband had built,» affidavit states. Gaurishankar's affidavit responds to affidavits filed by Madan Takale and Shrikrishna Adivarekar seeking probate of Sulochana's 2012 will. The case is set to be heard in Pune on October 9, 2024.
