Risk-on momentum in stocks succumbs to mounting worries around growth
stock market rally is wobbling as it confronts a horde of challenges to the momentum that's taken it from record high to record high. A rout early last month was a glimpse of how quickly things can turn bad, a sharp selloff driven by US recession fears that rocked investors used to going in only one direction. While the S&P 500 subsequently rebounded, crucially it didn't made back all the ground lost.

Airline directed to pay Rs 1.67 lakh to student barred from Canada-bound flight due to Schengen visa confusion
student who was barred from boarding a Toronto-bound flight due to a visa-related issue. The incident, which involved stoppages in Munich and Frankfurt, Germany, highlighted the airline's failure to inform the passenger about the requirement of a transit Schengen visa. The case centered on Maharshi Yadav, a resident of Gandhinagar, who was traveling to Canada for further studies. Yadav, who held a valid student visa for Canada, had booked a flight from Mumbai to Toronto for April 13, 2022. The flight included layovers in Munich and Frankfurt, both in Germany. However, during check-in at Mumbai airport, the airline staff informed Yadav that he required a transit Schengen visa for the layovers, which he did not possess. Consequently, he was denied boarding. Pressed for time, Yadav cancelled the original ticket and booked an alternative flight with Emirates Airlines, costing him Rs 1.70 lakh, to reach Canada the next day. Subsequently, Yadav, through his mother and legal counsel Sunil Chhabaria, filed a complaint with the Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission in Gandhinagar, alleging a deficiency in service on the part of the airline. The complaint argued that the airline had failed to notify Yadav in advance about the necessity of a transit Schengen visa for his journey.

technical textile exports will cross the target of $10 billion set for 2030, textiles minister Giriraj Singh said Friday, adding that the country will soon produce niche carbon fibre which is used in aerospace, civil engineering and defence. Carbon fibre will be produced by India in 2025-26: Union Minister Giriraj Singh
Giriraj Singh on Friday expressed confidence that the niche carbon fibre — which is used in aerospace, civil engineering and defence as an alternative to metal — will be produced by India in 2025-26. Currently, India does not produce any carbon fibre and relies completely on imports from countries such as the US, France, Japan and Germany. The European Union's proposed Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, a tax on embedded carbon imports, is expected to kick in from 2026. «The coming days belong to Technical textiles in every sector… I am fully confident that in 2025-26 the niche carbon fibre product will also be with India,» Singh told reporters here.

India has big untapped potential in MSME exports: Bhupen Wakankar, Amazon
exports by MSMEs, said Bhupen Wakankar, Director Global Trade, Amazon India, on Wednesday at the launch of Exports Digest 2024 — the company’s annual coffee table book on e-commerce exports which provides insights into the scale of e-commerce exports from India through the Amazon Global Selling programme. Wakankar said MSME-penetration by Amazon is still less than 5% and largely untapped, which in itself shows the scope of export business from India. He also said that Amazon is on track to enable thousands of Indian businesses to surpass $13 billion in cumulative e-commerce exports from India by 2024-end. Amazon’s latest report showed that 1.50 lakh exporters have been part of the programme, cumulatively selling over 40 crore made-in-India products globally. Amazon said the programme has seen a growth of over 20% in the past year and Amazon Global Selling has over 200 sellers across India.
