The man has been accused of duping an NRI (Non-Resident Indian) woman of Rs 13.5 crores. The Delhi Police EOW has registered a case against the accused along with others. Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Sonam Gupta on Friday remanded Varun Vashishta in four-day police custody. He is to be produced before the court on March 5, 2024.

Reliance Industries-Walt Disney Company deal to merge Viacom18 and Star India could create a media giant with profitable entertainment, but lossmaking sports and streaming, businesses, a report said. The Star-Viacom18 merger is expected to generate $2.8 billion in revenue and a loss of $200 million before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation on a pro forma basis in fiscal 2024, Media Partners Asia (MPA) said in a report. Election Commission of India (ECI) will set up special polling stations in relief camps to enable voters displaced by the ethnic violence in Manipur to cast their votes in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. Election officials said that the ECI made this decision after consultation with the Central and state governments. “As per past precedent of similar nature, internally displaced electors shall be provided with the facility to vote at special polling stations to be set up in relief camps,” an ECI statement said.

The Rayagada Passenger train hit the Visakhapatnam Palasa train from behind at 7 pm that day on the Howrah-Chennai line in Kantakapalli in Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh. Over 50 passengers were injured. Vaishnaw referred to the Andhra train accident while talking about new safety measures that Indian Railways has been working on. «The recent case in Andhra Pradesh happened because both the loco pilot and co-pilot were distracted by the cricket match which was going on. Now we are installing systems which can detect any such distraction and make sure that the pilots and the assistant pilots are fully focussed on running the train,» Vaishnaw told Videos.

Mansukh Mandaviya on Saturday inaugurated 40 new facilities across the country to manufacture bulk drugs and medical devices to enhance self-reliance and reduce dependence on imports for such critical materials and equipment. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony here, Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers Mansukh Mandaviya said the country has taken a big step towards self-reliance, with the commissioning of 27 new bulk drug facilities and 13 medical device manufacturing plants. The facilities, owned by various companies, were commissioned under the PLI Scheme for bulk drugs and medical devices, respectively.
