Emma Raducanu says she struggled to breathe after seeing "fixated" man in the crowd
Emma Raducanu says she «couldn't see the ball through tears» and struggled to breathe after spotting a man who was «fixated» on her during a match. The British tennis player and 2021 U.S. Open winner was left distressed during a match at last month's Dubai Championships by the presence of the man in the stand. The man, who had already approached Raducanu earlier in the tournament, was ejected from the arena after she spoke to the chair umpire during a second-round match against Karolina Muchova. He was later detained by Dubai police and signed a document pledging to «maintain distance» from Raducanu. The WTA said he had «exhibited fixated behavior.» «I was obviously very distraught,» Raducanu told British reporters at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, her first tournament since the incident.

Cong's Mallikarjun Kharge accuses PM Modi of "telling 11 big lies" in 11 years, slams unkept promises
Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of «lying» to the country, alleging that he has told eleven significant lies during his eleven years in power. Speaking at an event to launch the Kalyana Patha project in Jewargi, aimed at laying 1,166 km of roads across 38 rural constituencies in Kalyan Karnataka, Kharge criticised Modi's promises. The project, which is modeled after the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, will be implemented at a cost of Rs 1,000 crore. «In eleven years Modi has said eleven big lies, not small ones. First lie is to bring black money from abroad and put Rs 15 lakh each to the bank accounts of the people. Second lie is creating 2 crore jobs every year. Did you get it, no. But I still don't know why our youths support him? Do they do it on the basis of caste, religion, conduct, I don't understand,» Kharge said. Addressing the gathering, he wondered why people don't support those from the Congress party, whose leaders have dedicated their lives serving the poor, sacrificed their lives, and fought for the freedom of the country.

ET Awards 2024: FM Nirmala Sitharaman reveals full spectrum of India's current challenges and opportunities
Nirmala Sitharaman said at a fireside chat at the ET Awards event on March 8. Both sides should have an ambition for a good treaty, and for the sake of Viksit Bharat, India needs to have good traction on that front, the FM said, adding that it still needs to do a lot more to strengthen exports across the board. Each one of the problems that the world in general — and some countries in particular — are facing, such as deflation, tariff or lack of demand, is in fact an opportunity for India — the kind of opportunity the country was waiting for, Sitharaman said.

Gene Hackman death case: Details out about the virus that killed the Hollywood legend's wife
Gene Hackman’s spouse, Betsy Arakawa, died from a hantavirus infection, officials in New Mexico have confirmed. Hantavirus, which is present globally, is transmitted through interactions with rodents or their excrement, including urine and feces. It is important to note that the virus is not contagious between humans. While there is no definitive treatment or cure available, seeking prompt medical care can significantly improve the odds of survival. The infection can escalate quickly and become life-threatening. Dr. Sonja Bartolome from UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas explained, “It initially presents like the flu, with symptoms such as body aches and a general feeling of malaise.” She emphasized that early on, distinguishing hantavirus from the flu can be quite challenging. According to the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the virus can lead to a severe and potentially fatal lung condition known as hantavirus pulmonary syndrome. The CDC began monitoring the virus following a significant outbreak in 1993 in the Four Corners area, where Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah converge. Dr. Michelle Harkins, a pulmonologist at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center, noted that a perceptive physician within the Indian Health Service first identified a troubling trend of deaths among previously healthy young patients presenting with cardiopulmonary arrest, which led to the CDC's investigation to find commonalities among these cases.
