markets Digital economy Sustainability Trade inclusion International G20 must build a global consensus on inclusive, sustainable growth
G20 Summit in Brazil on Monday and Tuesday will bring leaders of all major economies together once again. The task before them is cut out. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is representing India for a record eleventh successive time. Such continuity is an advantage in a world of turmoil...when there is a deficit of global governance. Nothing is more powerful than the force of example. Since the first G20 Summit in 2008, and particularly since 2014, India has been a source of economic stability and growth. India, the fastest growing large economy, has quadrupled its GDP to almost $4 trillion since 2008. It is on track to become the third-largest economy in the next few years.

markets Digital Strategy Experts PAM exclusive reports General Atlantic set to leave House of Anita Dongre
House of Anita Dongre (HOADPL) is initiating a buyback of its nearly 40% stake from US private equity firm General Atlantic (GA), executives aware of the development said. GA had acquired the stake in the owner of brands such as AND and Global Desi in the women's wear category about nine years ago. According to reports then, the PE firm had invested nearly ₹150 crore in Dongre's company in 2015. «There is continued uncertainty over recovery in revenue and earnings in the coming quarters due to weak demand growth outlook and reduction in Anita Dongre's scale of operations,» rating agency ICRA said in a January report on HOADPL. The report expects the company's revenue to decline to ₹500-₹550 crore in FY24 and FY25, from ₹606 crore in FY23, with an annual operating profit margin of 19-20%. The company is yet to file its FY24 earnings. A fashion retail veteran said brands like AND and Global Desi went from premium to mass and discounted heavily on online channels. «The product was reengineered as a result and lost its lustre in the process. Profit margins in the fashion industry should be robust so that it can be reinvested in the brand,» the person said.

Travis Head on Monday backed Virat Kohli to «have his moments in the series» as the Indian superstar continued to dominate talks in the run-up to the five-Test Border-Gavaskar Trophy, starting here on Friday. Kohli's ordinary returns with the bat this year in Test cricket notwithstanding, the 36-year-old has been the cynosure of all eyes since the Indian team landed in Australia last week. Head threw his support behind the Indian batting mainstay, who managed a mere 93 runs across three Tests against New Zealand at a forgettable average of 15.50 in his last assignment at home just before the tour of Australia. «No doubt, we will go through all their players, cannot wait to start well against them. Virat's going to have his moments in this series, hopefully not too many of them,» Head told the media at the Optus Stadium after Australia's training session.

markets UPS Digital Strategy Tesla Experts PAM Elon Musk: The X-factor in India-US relations
Donald Trump's audacious win over Kamala Harris and the sweep of both Houses of the US Congress by the Republican Party, two significant developments have set the stage for an emboldened Trump 2.0 administration: Trump's cabinet appointments have set off shock waves across Washington, underscoring his trademark unpredictability. These choices signal his intent to shake up the established order and reinforce his disruptive approach to governance — something cut short by his loss to Joe Biden in 2020. With far-reaching implications, Elon Musk has officially joined the Trump administration. Musk's inclusion comes as little surprise, considering his public support for Trump during the campaign, including a reported $100 mn-plus in campaign contributions.
