Satcom companies, telcos speak in 2 voices on spectrum price
satellite spectrum administratively for 20 years at minimal charges, while telecom operators Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea are pushing for allocation at market-determined prices to ensure a level playing field. Satcom companies and telcos will be fighting for a share of the wireless broadband market in India, which is poised for strong growth. The firms have submitted their recommendations to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai), which will now come out with recommendations on the pricing and other modalities concerning the spectrum. Reliance Jio and Vodafone Idea, though, have sought reissuance or a supplementary consultation paper as the current paper does not cover key issues, including the level playing field.

The statement said the Department of Homeland Security continues to enforce US immigration laws and deliver tough consequences for those who enter unlawfully by swiftly returning those without a legal basis to remain in the US while encouraging the use of lawful pathways.

Mizoram: In a first, compensation to be awarded to two parties claiming same plots of land so that work can begin
Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma stated that the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways will award a compensation to two parties claiming same plots of land; so that the construction work of a four-lane highway between Vairengte and Sairang can begin adding that this is the first compensation of such its kind in the history of India. Lalduhoma while talking to media persons said that during his week-long tour of New Delhi, he participated in a review meeting on highways led by the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari. The Chief Minister stated that he later met Gadkari and apprised the Minister that the construction of a four-lane highway between Vairengte and Sairang cannot be started as forest clearance could not be obtained; and added that though the Supreme Court had directed the Chief Secretary to find an alternative solution to the problem, the claim of the land by both the forest department and the land owners has credibility with both parties accurate in their claim.

Rahul Gandhi flags stock market risks
Rahul Gandhi on Saturday expressed concern over the recent sharp decline in the Indian stock markets and said the party must evolve ways to protect the interests of youngsters, the salaried class and the common people who have invested their money. In a video of a phone conversation with Pawan Khera — chairman of the Congress' media and publicity department — Gandhi described the stock market as a «space of risk» and urged party leaders to devise innovative ways of cautioning retail investors for protecting their hard-earned money. «If you want me involved in it, tell me how,» Gandhi told Khera, expressing his willingness to be part of a communication campaign to protect the interests of retail investors. The former Congress president posted a video of the conversation with Khera on Instagram with the caption, «Who is in the syndicate that guards the corrupt?»

Mischievous provocation & political propaganda: India slams Pakistan at UNSC
India slammed Pakistan's «mischievous provocation» and "political propaganda" during a Security Council meeting on women, peace and security, saying the condition of women belonging to minority communities, notably Hindus, Sikhs and Christians in the country remains deplorable. «It is despicable yet entirely predictable that one delegation has chosen to indulge in mischievous provocation based on their tried and tested tactic of spreading misinformation and disinformation,» India's Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador P Harish said in the UNSC on Friday. Harish delivered India's statement at the UNSC Open Debate on 'Women Building Peace in a Changing Environment'.

Borders should not be changed by force: German Chancellor Olaf Scholz
Olaf Scholz on Saturday said borders should not be changed by «war or force», and Russia's invasion of Ukraine poses the biggest threat to international peace today as «it is about changing borders». Inviolability of national borders is the basis for peace, he said, interacting with the students of Birla Institute of Technology And Science (BITS) Pilani at Vasco during a visit to Goa during which he also visited the German Naval ship FGS Baden-Wurttemberg docked at Mormugao Port. Amid rising hoax bomb threats to Indian airlines, Centre issues advisory to social media companies
advisory to social media companies such as X (formerly Twitter) and Meta, in the face of increasing hoax bomb threats to Indian airlines, reported TOI. The advisory calls for these platforms to make «reasonable efforts to disallow such malicious acts including hoax bomb threats from being disseminated on their platforms.» «The scale of spread of such hoax bomb threats has been observed to be dangerously unrestrained due to the availability of the option of 'forwarding/re-sharing/re-posting/re-tweeting' on the social media platforms,» the Ministry of Electronics and IT highlighted on Friday. These hoax threats primarily consist of misinformation that significantly disrupts public order, airline operations, and the security of travellers. According to the TOI report, social media intermediaries are required to «observe their due diligence obligations that include the prompt removal or disabling access to such unlawful information specified under the IT Rules, 2021, including hoax bomb threats, well within the strict timelines as prescribed under the IT Rules, 2021.»
