Will RBI follow the global trend on rate cuts? Ashishkumar Chauhan answers
«Broadly speaking, across the world, the monetary policies are synchronised with some lag or some sort of advanced framework, so that is where if inflation in a particular country is under control, they would try to synchronise with the rest of the world going forward,» says Ashishkumar Chauhan, MD & CEO, NSE. We have seen a stimulation in the Chinese economy. What kind of an impact do you think it will have here in India? Ashishkumar Chauhan: Broadly speaking world is connected, at the same time China is going through its own issues on their economic front, especially with real estate and it seems to be a grave situation there on many counts and that is where the government there has taken these steps first time to even distribute money for their national holiday and that is showing you that that particular economy is going through the stress.

Zerodha CEO Nithin Kamath decodes the reason why Indians hate the rich
Zerodha co-founder Nithin Kamath recently lambasted the Indian public for harbouring resentment towards the rich and the entrepreneurial class. In a conversation at a tech event with YourStory founder Shradha Sharma, Kamath blamed India’s socialist mindset and wide economic disparities that have triggered a culture that discouraged entrepreneurship and also fostered bitterness towards the moneyed classes. “In the US, if someone makes a lot of money they are very successful and buy new cars, then it comes on the cover page. And it’s very normal—buying a jet and all is very normal. And as a society also, they don’t look down [on rich people,” said Sharma.

Fragmented laws not enough, says ex-SC judge; calls for comprehensive climate law in India
Supreme Court judge Justice Hima Kohli has advocated for a robust national climate law, saying the current environmental legislations are often fragmented and insufficient to tackle the complexities of climate change. Addressing an event on the topic «Climate Liability, Justice, and Jurisprudence» on Friday, she also said the top court's landmark judgment in the M K Ranjit Sinh case paves the way for strengthening India's environmental laws and integrating human rights into climate discussions. «There is a pressing need for comprehensive legislation dedicated specifically for climate change. India has several environmental laws in place, but they are often fragmented and sometimes found to be insufficient to address the multifaceted challenges posed by climate change. »A robust national climate law grounded in constitutional principles and aligned with international obligations is, to my mind, the way forward," she said.

YouTubers run for cover, but insurers lack policy umbrella
YouTubers, facing a surge in cyberattacks, are increasingly exploring cyber insurance to protect their businesses and digital assets. The recent hacking of popular creator Ranveer Allahbadia's channel, which resulted in the deletion of several videos, has raised the need of content creators. Content creators with 100,000 subscribers typically earn ₹75,000 to ₹2.25 lakh per month, while those with over one million followers can rake in as much as ₹7.5 lakh monthly, excluding additional earnings from promotions of ₹5 lakh to ₹20 lakh, experts said. India has over 92,935 YouTube channels with at least 100,000 subscribers, making it the largest market for such content worldwide. «After this incident, we expect demand for cover from YouTubers to come,» said Sharad Mathur, MD and CEO, Universal Sompo General Insurance. «Now, they have realised the kind of risk they are exposed to and need to cover their content.»

All about Delhi's Bhau Gang, which recently opened fire in a car showroom
The initial investigation points to an extortion racket involving the notorious Bhau Gang, led by gangster Himanshu Bhau. According to a report in the Times of India, which quoted sources, the assailants left behind a note demanding money, signed with the chilling message, «Bhau Gang Since 2020.» It is believed that Bhau had demanded Rs 5 crore in protection money, though police have not officially confirmed this. Authorities have now launched an investigation to track down and arrest the shooters. The attack occurred around 7:30 PM, when three men arrived on a motorcycle and stormed into the showroom, brandishing pistols. Without warning, they opened fire both inside and outside the building, sending shockwaves through the area.

Nokia selected by Vodafone Idea as major 4G & 5G partner in India
The company that recently raised Rs 24,000 crore by selling shares had said the deal marked the first step towards the rollout of its «transformative» three-year capex plan of Rs 55,000 crore, aimed at expanding the 4G population coverage from 1.03 billion to 1.2 billion, launching 5G in key markets and capacity expansion in line with data growth. While experts had termed the deal, which is the largest by any telco this year, as a significant step in terms of network capex, they felt that additional investments would be needed for Vi to get at par with its stronger rivals, especially after the Supreme Court rejected a curative petition seeking to recompute dues linked to adjusted gross revenue (AGR). This ruling effectively confirmed its statutory dues of over ₹70,000 crore, payable from FY26.
